I bet ya'll didn't know I do some amateur photography on the side, did ya'? I do, just... never post anything since I know people don't watch me for that.

I chose this name for this photo because it's it both a wildlife refuge, and a refuge of mine during my childhood. I can't count how many times I spent my day there to to get away, unwind, and immerse myself in the scenery and wildlife. Just about every day after school for years I would go there and stay until after night fell.
I had so many misadventures there during trail hiking, photographing wildlife and landscapes.. I can recall my first time ever going there, when I was nine years old, with my Aunt Sylvia. She is an avid photographer and took me to take pictures of the birds, and I remember how much in awe I was-- to me, it was like being in an episode of 'Wild Discovery'. ( When I took this picture today, it was with her too. It being only the second time I have ever gone with her, ten years later. )
I also recall chasing down a bobcat just to get a good shot of it-- very stupidly-- and of course didn't get the photo, but got a great story and encounter! I also lost a good pair of my favorite shoes there during the dry season when the mangrove swamps dried up into muck. I wanted a good vantage point to photo some spoonbills and thought I could step onto what I thought would be solid ground. HAH! No, I stepped in waist deep and was being sucked in. It took two people to pull me out, and I lost my shoes. But really, the worst part, was the STINK! I suppose I was also lucky no gators seized that moment of opportunity.
I could go on forever about the vast amount of fond memories I have exploring and just growing up here, but I'm sure no one wants to read that novel!
Thank you! I was lucky to capture that.. really lucky. XD
And yes, I did. It smelled so god awful--- like raw sewage. B[ I'm fortunate it didn't swallow me up. ;//A//; Of course I do find it hilarious too. XDDD
I for one really love photography. I love taking pictures. I love viewing pictures... But my two most favorite forms of photography are: A) Anything with a positive theme or message B) Photo's that have or share a meaning, purpose, or message. Something that means something to people. Something that tells a story. That is why I like this picture.
This is so beautiful! The colors are like out of this world!!! Wowww!
And lololol where in the worlds did you step in to sink waist-deep omg!!!
